Ooooof. This is kinda tough to write.
The Design Your Life program is going to be awesome. I will admit upfront that I had a high interest in this 4 day experiential training. I was very interested in helping, teaching and providing an environment to assist other practitioners. But with so many other big projects in the pipeline, I was becoming increasingly stressed to deliver on my desired outcome.
I have a deep need to help others. So many times, when beginning a new project, I get caught up in the content and context and leave out the marketing part. I know (too) many others who market and then proceed to deliver sub par performances if not absolute crap. The difference is that they made enough profit to retool their approach.
I know what commitment looks like. I knew what it would take. And the sacrifices that needed to be made. It meant traveling to events, promoting and creating a awareness. Sending out promo videos, podcasts and networking. It meant having a standardized event registration button (“register here”) and selling the benefits of the program. And that meant giving up on the time I allocated with Dr. Kim, my writing, my burgeoning chiropractic space, my health, etc. Just not stable enough. Right idea, wrong timing.
And that’s hard to admit. I needed the time to develop this. I was interested, but not committed. In stark contrast, I am committed to Dr. Kim’s return to health from our wreck; I wasn’t only interested in it. It was going to happen without question.
And I want that level of commitment for this Design Your Life program. It deserves it. I need to give it my all. All the potential attendees deserve that VERY best I can deliver. When I do deliver it, you can be assured it will be in absolute excellence. Congruency and integrity are important to me.
I am postponing the DYL program at the end of March due to not enough registrants. Next time it will be offered— I’m thinking 4 days between June 18-July 7 or 4 days in the September 24-30 week. Feel free to chime in with dates that work for you. Ideally the schedule will coincide with students or transitional doctors academic calendars.
And this time I’ll be asking for help. What resources have you used that produced events that were well-marketed? Perhaps I needed more time, more connections within each of the chiropractic colleges, better partnerships, etc.
I know the difference between interest and commitment. By admitting I was the former, I remain the latter to my own values. Stay tuned.
Much love. Dr. Danny
